Expanding Horizons, Same Values
Ariza is expanding horizons…
Ariza held its Annual General Meeting on Thursday, June 29th, 2017, at the Spice Basket in Beaulieu, St. George’s. The event began with a welcome social for members to meet, mingle, network and catch-up with fellow Arizans.
The meeting began promptly at 3 pm with the Chairman, Senator Christopher Deallie presiding over the programme. A special bonus was an acoustic rendition of the Ariza Song, written and composed by Ms. Sabrina Francis, a local singer and performer, sung after the National Anthem.
Greetings were brought by several of our fellows Credit Union Fraternity, Mr William Joseph, General Manager of the Grenada Co-operative League, Mr Alister Bain, President of The Grenville Co-operative Credit Union, Mrs Alma Dubois, Secretary of the GUT Credit Union Ltd, and Ms Chinnel Andrews. Marketing Officer of the Communal Co-operative Credit Union Ltd. Although River Salle Co-operative Credit Union was not represented, their message was read by President De Allie. The speakers referred to the chosen theme; extending congratulations, its relevance to the current times, and appropriateness of concept.

The meeting examined the reports submitted by the various committees of the Credit Union and elected a number of officers to serve for an initial 3-year term. Regrettably among the officers demitting office from the Board of Directors:
- President: Sen. Christopher De Allie
- Treasurer: Bro. Garvin Roberts
- Board Member: Bro. Augustine Balwant
Credit Committee:
- Chairman: Bro. Maximus Lazarus
Supervisory & Compliance Committee:
- Member: Sis. Merryl Phillip-Sylvester
Replacing them are a group of energetic and experienced members all elected to the Board of Directors:
Bro. Aaron Moses – the outgoing President of the Caribbean Confederation of Credit Unions, and a former president of the GPSCCU. Sis Carla Ross – who has honed a wealth of talents in Finance, Accounting and Management and Bro. Dennis Cornwall – holding a degree in economics and worked in both the Public Service and Private Sectors regionally. To serve on the Supervisory & Compliance Committee; Bro. Wayne Radix was elected, he has a wealth of knowledge and experience on Project Management, and finally to the Credit Committee; Sis. Ann Isaac, a P.S. responsible for Co-operatives and Bro. Justin Hazzard, who is attached to the Ministry of Youth Sports and Religious Affairs.
The Ariza Credit Union was able to pay $650k as an incentive payment to its members this year which was applauded by the gathered members.
The meeting ended with the consideration of resolutions which included changing the name of the Credit Union from Grenada Public Service Co-operative Credit Union trading as Ariza to the Ariza Credit Union. Live entertainment from For the Love of Music (FLOM) closed the curtain on the 70th Meeting of the Credit Union.
