We’ve have had an exciting Month of track and field events at the National Athletics Stadium, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down with the upcoming Grenada Invitational and 2017 Carifta Games. Let’s just say we’re happy to be typing as we’ve left our voices at the 2017 Ariza National Junior Championships on last weekend.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to the spectators who came out to cheer on our young athletes from Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. As the title sponsors we are proud to revel in the spirit of excellence and sportsmanship displayed off and on the track. It was evident by their performance that they have all been training extremely hard to represent their schools and sports clubs and qualify for the 2017 Carifta Games in Curacao, which takes place April 15 to April 17, 2017. The impressive abilities of our home-grown talent from over 13 schools really got the crowd going, along with great performances from the winners of the 2016 Drum Corps and local soca stars Little Kerry, Muddy and Squeeze Head. Over 20 students broke records in Discus and Javelin, 100m girls and 4X100-meter relay and more. The astounding energy from the stadium crowd was electric. And we have to say a huge thank you to over 40,000 dedicated viewers who watched live via Facebook.
Sharing the action online and making sure Ariza National Junior Championships reached people at home and abroad was another way for us to extend our support to The Grenada Athletic Association, who has coordinated this event for over fifty years.
At Ariza Credit Union we love encouraging young people to be passionate about what they do and always aim to discover the full potential of their dreams. We strongly believe that we can build a stronger nation through the development of our youth. We will continue to reward young people excelling academically, in the area of sports and art and the organisations nurturing their growth.
Stay posted on our Facebook page Ariza Credit Union for updates on the progress of the team representing Grenada at Carifta 2017.
